With the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season quickly approaching, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is thinking about making some strategic adjustments in light of the difficulties encountered in past seasons. The team, which has had difficulty keeping up its pace in the IPL, wants to improve, especially in the bowling area, so that it can be a strong contender in the 2024 season.
Following the massive auction, SRH was able to assemble a youthful and seasoned player-led squad that shows promise. The 2023 season had a lack of coordination, particularly in the batting lineup, despite the arrival of batting stars. The management of the team is optimistic that the players will find their best form again in the next season.
But in order to make the necessary changes to the team’s current configuration, some players may need to be let go.
The following three players are ones that SRH may decide to cut before the 2024 IPL season:
Harry Brook is a domestic cricket player for Yorkshire County Cricket Club and an international cricket player for England. He bowls right-arm medium seam and bats primarily right-handed. Born in Keighley, West Yorkshire, England, on February 22, 1999, Brook was signed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2023 auction, when they paid an incredible Rs 13.25 crore for his services.
In the previous edition, English batsman Harry Brook contributed a brilliant Test average of 62.15 runs to the Sunrisers team. He scored a century to start the season off well, but by the conclusion of the season, he was only scoring 190 runs in 11 innings. The striking rate of 123.38 prompted doubts about the investment, and the hefty price tag of INR 13.25 crore did not match his entire performance.
Even with Brook’s stellar T20 record—2982 runs at 33.50 and an incredible 149.62 strike rate—SRH may be thinking about cutting ties with him. Brook might have the chance to shine in a setting where his ability is completely fulfilled as a result of this choice.
Indian cricketer Abdul Samad represents Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League and Jammu & Kashmir in the national league. He is the third Jammu and Kashmiri cricket player to ever play in the IPL, and his big-hitting ability helped him become well-known.
Indian cricket player Abdul Samad competes in the Indian Premier League for the Hyderabad team. Abdul Samad is 22 years old as of 2023. He was born on October 28, 2001. Abdul Samad is an all-around player who bowls leg spin and bats right-handed. In 2020, he made his IPL debut. In his 34 IPL games played thus far, Abdul Samad has amassed 395 runs at an average of 19.75. His greatest IPL score was 37* runs. Throughout his IPL career, Abdul Samad has slapped 25 sixes and 22 fours. Abdul Samad was hired by the Hyderabad franchise for Rs 4.00 Cr in the IPL 2023 Auction.
With his reputation for heavy hitting, Abdul Samad was considered Yusuf Pathan’s replacement in the SRH lineup. Samad demonstrated his ability in the first several seasons after being signed for INR 20 lakhs during the 2020 auction, scoring at a remarkable strike rate of 170.76.
His impact did, however, diminish in the 2023 season, as he only managed 169 runs in nine innings. Even with a strong average of 42.25, Samad was unable to guarantee a berth in the starting lineup. He seems to be looking for a franchise that can give him the encouragement and resources he needs to continue growing.

Trinidadian cricketer Akeal Hosein has represented the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and played for Trinidad and Tobago in West Indian domestic cricket. He has an Indian Premier League contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the IPL 2023 auction, Hosein was signed for Rs 1 crore by the Hyderabad team. Hosein, who turns 29 in 2023, was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on April 25, 1993. He can bat left-handed and is an orthodox slow-arm bowler. Hosein competed for the West Indies under-19 team in Australia during the 2012 Under-19 World Cup.
After making a name for himself in 2021 on the cricket field, Akeal Hosein joined the Sunrisers in 2023. He demonstrated his abilities as a bowler in several T20 leagues, making a big impact with the bat and the ball. Hosein proved he could handle the pressure of Twenty20 cricket by taking 99 wickets in 121 games at an economy rate of 6.74 runs per over.
Hosein is a valuable all-rounder who has scored as high as 44, but it appears that SRH has not been able to make the most of him. This might lead the team to cut him loose, making room for smart additions to the roster.
To sum up, SRH must make important choices before the IPL 2024 auction in order to hone its team for a more prosperous season. As part of this tactical reorganization, certain players will be released, giving the team room to maneuver and maybe acquiring individuals who can fill in for injured squad members. Fans are eager to see SRH’s redesigned roster and the intriguing possibilities it may have for the forthcoming season as the IPL excitement grows.
